Se espera que la venta simultánea de dólares y la compra de yuanes ayuden a evitar nuevas caídas de la divisa china, que actualmente corre el riesgo de sufrir la mayor pérdida anual frente al dólar en casi tres décadas. En lo que va de año, el yuan se ha devaluado más de un 11 % frente a la moneda estadounidense.

Una fuente de la agencia dijo que se espera que la escala de esta ronda de intercambio de divisas sea “bastante grande“.
El yuan extraterritorial (‘offshore‘) de China, que se mueve en paralelo con el yuan continental, experimentó una recuperación de unos 200 puntos porcentuales tras conocerse la noticia, llegando a valer 7,1849 por dólar a las 09:35 GMT.
Los volúmenes de negocios con el yuan extraterritorial representan alrededor del 70 % de todas las operaciones de divisas en yuanes a nivel mundial, superando los volúmenes negociados en el continente.
En 2015, las autoridades chinas utilizaron un billón de dólares de sus reservas oficiales de divisas para apoyar al yuan después de una devaluación del 2 %, que sacudió los mercados financieros mundiales.
